Frequently Asked Questions

Delivery

  • When do you deliver?

We deliver Monday, Wednesday and Friday to the greater Wellington region.

We deliver on Monday and Wednesday to the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand.

We don’t send orders out of town (beyond the greater Wellington Region) on a Friday or the day before a public holiday, because there is a risk of the food sitting for a few days in a depot before being delivered.

  • How much does it cost to get my shopping delivered?

All deliveries have a courier charge, which depends on where you live.

  • What happens if my order falls on a public holiday?

We do not deliver on a public holiday.

If your order falls on a public holiday, it will be sent out on the next possible delivery day.

  • Do you deliver overseas?

We only deliver in Aotearoa New Zealand.

  • Do I have to be home to receive my order?

If you order perishables such as meat and dairy we reccommend it. Otherwise no you do not need to be at home. You can leave detailed instructions in the delivery instructions box when you submit your order.

  • Can I choose my delivery day?

You can choose your dispatch day by completing your order by 9pm the night before your goods are to be dispatched. Your delivery will arrive depending on where you live. Look under our delivery charges section and you will find your area under the approximate time it would take to be delivered.

  • Can I pick up my order from a Commonsense Organic store instead of having it delivered?

Yes. Just write your request and the name of the shop in the delivery details box. We have four stores in the Wellington region and run our delivery service from our Wellington city store. It is important to clearly state which shop you wish to pick up your order from. There will be a pre-authorization charge on your credit card for a courier, but this will be not be charged. You will be charged a $5 packing fee. Please leave a phone number so we can call you when it is ready to be picked up.

Buying online

  • Why are some things not available online?

Due to seasonable availability, and to simplify your ordering process (we have over 4000 products) - we only include our most consistent products online.

  • Can my credit card be refunded if I cancel my order?

Yes. Call the delivery team at the Wellington city store (04) 3843314 or email deliveries@commonsenseorganics.co.nz

A refund can take 5-7 working days to process.

  • How do I use the filters?

To use our filters, simply tick the appropriate box and search away! They will stay on untill you take them off. For more information see our resource section

  • What is a packing charge?

There is a packing charge of $5 on every delivery. This is because a dedicated member of the Commonsense staff selects all of your chosen products. This fee covers their time and effort in selecting all the finest products just for you.

  • Can I cancel my order?

Yes you can cancel your order.  Email us at deliveries@commonsenseorganics.co.nz

This needs to be done by 9pm the night before you expect your delivery to be sent. Your credit card will not be charged until the order has been processed in our shop on the dispatch day.

  • Can I change my order?

Yes, but you need to do it by 9pm the day before you expect your delivery to be sent.

    Email us at deliveries@commonsenseorganics.co.nz

  • Why are prices on the website sometimes different from prices in the stores?

Prices change according to supplier and availability. All our stores order fresh vegetables several times a week and the individual store managers decide who to order from. The freight charges to our stores may differ, which changes the price, especially from small producers.

  • When do I have to order by?

You need to place your order by 9pm, the night before the relevant delivery day.

  • Can I buy alcohol online?

No. Sorry! We are not allowed to send alcohol out with an order, because we have no control over who receives it and this would breach our licence.

  • What happens if you don’t have what I order?

At times, due to the organic nature of our stock, fresh produce may be out of season and imported goods may be unavailable. We will call you between 7am and 9am, to let you know if we cannot supply any items you have ordered. We may suggest possible alternatives, so please leave a number where we can contact you. If we cannot contact you- we will not substitute the unavailable product.

  • I cancelled my order but it looks like I have been charged!

If you have any queries please call the Wellington city store on (04)3843314 or email deliveries@commonsenseorganics.co.nz. When an order has been placed in the system your credit card account has a "pre-authorisation" placed on it. Pre-authorisation is a way for the DPS system to make sure there is enough money in the account to process the sale. This can appear as a charge but is not- it will be cleared after 7 days. If you have limited funds and need an immediate refund, call the Wellington store.

Seasonal produce

  • What does "out of season" mean?

It means that a product is unavailable. We only stock fruit and vegetables that are in season, or stored in a controlled atmosphere. All our produce is grown in New Zealand with the exception of bananas and a few tropical fruits from the Pacific.

  • Why can't I see my favorite food this week?

Maybe because the season has changed or perhaps a supplier has sold out of their wonderful stock. Sometimes the demand is just too great and a product sells out. This is the nature of the organics industry- seasonal and in demand!

  • What exactly do you mean by "organic"
