So it is official! we are enjoying the rugby world cup 2011.
Considering how many of us are rugby skeptics (to put it nicely) it is quite astonishing that most of us are finding the whole thing a bit exciting and strangely enjoyable…We even tried to get flags for our delivery vans but they had all sold out! Do you know where we can get some?
Rugby. It has defined generations of kiwi kids. The amazing explosion of joy when your team scores a try! And the confusion of loyalties when like most kiwi kids- two sides of your family are on opposite sides of the field!
Anyway- New Zealand needs a party. It has been a hard year, especially for Christchurch and Japan. Even though rugby is not for everyone- creating community is, and the rugby world cup provides an opportunity!
So- here we are- jumping up and down like seasoned rugby fans (which some of us are) encouraging the kids, loving the community, and anticipating the taste of victory!
3 ways to create your own rugby world cup community
1) Get your friends and family together to watch a game. You will be surprised how much fun it is (especially if the All Blacks win against France on Saturday!) Have a sausage sizzle!
All of our sausages are gluten free. They just contain meat (no bread to bulk them out) and spices. All of our stores stock a great range of sausages made by Andy and Sophie from Ti Kouka farm.
Vegetarian sausages for friends who aren’t into meat.
And don’t forget the tomato sauce!
Do you have gluten free guests coming to stay?
Make sure you lubricate your throat to ensure your lungs are at full throttle - we have the best beer and incredible wine in our stores. We even have Scotts gluten free beer! We also have the delicious Bees Blessing range of cordials.
2) Get down to the Fanzone, delight in the public space that Wellington has! Enjoy the music! Don’t forget your Hotteeze and frooze balls.
3) Get off the couch! Get a rugby ball, go to the park and have a kick about with your kids. And then get down to Commonsense, pick up some garden stuff and get them busy in the garden! Koanga gardens have a beautiful range of seed collections.
All of our four stores have a great range of seedlings, and gardening supplies
Hoorah! Go team! (the last game is still a month away- might as well make a party out of it!)
