A third of our produce comes from Common Property, our own Bio-Gro certified market garden in Te Horo. We deal direct with many other New Zealand growers to ensure that organic produce is fresh from the paddock to your plate. The emphasis in Commonsense Organics has always been on providing top quality fresh organic produce. We also sell a wide variety of dried goods, meat and dairy, health products and environmentally friendly products.
We stock as many certified organic items as we can obtain. We also stock basic grocery items that may not be certified organic, but are an improvement on similar products elsewhere - for instance, we avoid products that have artificial additives for preserving or colouring, many of which are highly toxic and damaging especially for children. We will not knowingly stock any product that contains genetically engineered ingredients.
Commonsense Organics also carries a range of health products. We stock homeopathic, biodynamic and naturopathic remedies on the grounds that these systems relate to conventional allopathic medicine in much the same way as organics relate to conventional agriculture. People come to us not only for nutritious, healthy food, but also for help with allergy diets and other health issues. We stock herbal remedies, supplements and cosmetics that avoid the use of chemicals and we have 2 fully qualified naturopaths in our Wellington store.

Recipes
Many of the products we sell are unusual — grains like quinoa, spelt and kamut and fresh produce like pikopiko, cherimoya and quinces. This provides opportunities to try new foods and to experiment with new recipes. We provide instore tastings and information on foods, particularly unusual products. We also provide a recipe book to store the recipes collected from the store.
