Hohepa is a trust which provides homes, schools, organic farms and day services for the care, support and education of intellectually disabled young people and adults.
We visited their beautiful biodynamic Demeter certified property at Poraiti, near Napier. We were shown around by Andy Black, the farm manager and Robert, his right hand man. We get a variety of vegetables from Hohepa including capsicums, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery and aubergines. We also get their cheese and their quark. All of their cheeses have won awards in the Champions of Cheese awards and the feta won a Champion of Cheese award, as well as the gold medal.
